A tattoo artist has been charged with frustrated homicide, sexual assault, and theft after he allegedly stabbed a trans woman for refusing to have sex with him.

Victim Anastacia Deville, a call center employee, shared the incident in a now-viral Facebook post that appeared on Dec. 29, Saturday.

In her post, she alleged that suspect Eugene Aquino hurt her on the morning of Dec. 26, Wednesday. Deville said that she had just come from a friend’s Christmas party when Aquino allegedly kept on sending her messages, offering to tattoo her at home.

She said she let him visit her home in Makati City because they had a lot of common friends; however, Deville noted that the suspect was already acting strange when he arrived at her place.

“I was bothered that he felt so at home in my apartment. He even entered first and checked what was inside my refrigerator, my container for utensils, plates, and knives, [he also] looked around my apartment,” Deville said in Filipino.

Aquino allegedly started setting up his equipment at 5am and stopped tattooing Deville at around 7:30am.

According to Deville’s post, Aquino allegedly sat beside her while she was watching TV and whispered an indecent proposal to her. Aquino allegedly asked her to have sex with him in exchange for money.

She refused and told him to leave. The suspect then said that he would just go to the bathroom but allegedly returned carrying a knife.

Deville said that the suspect then told her to remove her clothes and tried tying up her hands and feet. She managed to escape and ran to the terrace for help but the man caught up with her and allegedly started stabbing her.

In a Facebook message to Coconuts Manila, Deville said that she sustained 12 stab wounds and a slice on her face.

She said that her neighbors eventually called the police and that village officials brought her to the Ospital ng Makati (Makati Hospital) for treatment. She was in the hospital until the evening of Dec. 29

ABS-CBN News reported yesterday that CCTV footage featuring Aquino in Deville’s apartment have been obtained. One video shows him arriving at around 4am carrying a backpack and tattoo equipment, while another video shows him running out of the apartment shirtless and without his belongings at around 10:45am.

The same report states that Aquino himself went to the police because he has allegedly been receiving threats after Deville posted her allegations on Facebook.

As of this article’s posting, Deville’s post had 122,000 shares, 39,000 reactions, and 22,000 comments.

Makati Police chief Senior Superintendent Rogelio Simon told ABS-CBN News that Aquino denied the allegations and said that he only did it out of self-defense.

ABS-CBN News tried speaking with Aquino but the suspect refused. Police released him because the reglementary time for his temporary detention had lapsed.

Deville told Coconuts that she was not able to file a complaint right away because she was still in the hospital. She said her mother tried to file one for her but the police said that she must be the one to do it.
