It’s only natural to want all the important people in your life during your graduation but for this Filipino high school student, that doesn’t just mean family but a K-pop idol as well.

Viral on social media right now is 15-year-old Joyce Miranda, who brought a life-size standee of the singer Chan, a member of the K-pop boy band iKON, to her graduation ceremony on Wednesday.

She shared a video of her marching the stage with the standee on the same day, a tweet that now has 1,600 likes, 535 shares, and 113 replies.

The Divine Word College of Laoag student said that she brought Chan because he was one of the people who helped her get High Honors in Grade 10.

“When I am so down and stressed in school, I watch Chan’s videos on his channel and listen to their songs. When I do that, I suddenly feel better. They make me happy. They are my motivation,” Joyce told Coconuts Manila in a Facebook message.

While her on-stage companion may have been out of the ordinary, the stunt didn’t seem to bother other people in the ceremony.

“They laughed and also clapped,” she said about other graduation attendees. “My family is happy about it.”

She was pretty resourceful too. Joyce said she created the standee using a piece of tarpaulin and styrofoam. She said she posted the video so Chan might see it. While the Korean idol has not reacted to the video yet, it was reposted by the iKON Philippines Facebook page, a community of iKON fans in the country.

iKON is a seven-member K-pop band known for the songs “Love Scenario,” “Killing me,” and “I’m OK.”

Joyce is not the first student to “bring” a K-pop idol to a school function. Late last month, another Filipino high school student brought a standee of EXO boy band member Do Kyung-soo to her prom.
