Driven in a fit of jealousy, a man from Polomolok, South Cotabato reportedly killed his own wife by hitting her with a hammer early this week.
Ricky Penido, 40, and Sheila Penido, 37, were having a heated argument inside their home in the village of Poblacion when the former hit his wife on the head with a hammer. Sheila was able to run away from her husband, but Ricky managed to catch up with her and hit her with the hammer several times on the chest.

Sheila was brought to the hospital for treatment, but she was dead on arrival. Her family said she was a battered wife long before her husband killed her.
Investigators said that the couple had an argument after Ricky accused his wife of carrying on an affair with another man. Ricky was arrested, and he will be charged with parricide for committing the crime.
