To curb the spread of COVID-19, Quezon City announced yesterday that minors— those under the age of 18 — will be prohibited from leaving their homes.
Quezon City Hall said in a statement that residents 18 to 65 years old will be the only ones allowed to go out in public, provided that they have in their possession a company ID, a school ID, or any government-issued ID. Those younger than 18 or older than 65 can leave their homes only if they are buying essential items. Those younger than 18 should also be accompanied by their parent or adult guardian.

Adults who are accompanying minors should also follow health protocols, such as observing physical distancing and wearing face masks.
Quezon City yesterday recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases among all cities and provinces in the Philippines, with 112 infections. This was followed by Laguna (94), Rizal (90), and Davao City (71). Despite its dismal record, the city will push through with its Christmas festivities such as Simbang Gabi (“Night Mass”) and community fireworks display.
Churches will be allowed to accommodate 30% of its usual capacity for Simbang Gabi, which will start on Dec. 16 and ends on Dec. 24.
