Yes, it’s as crazy as it sounds.

Police Officer 3 Isah Sangcad from the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao – Regional Public Safety Battalion (ARMM-RPSB) is being called by his colleagues as “the man that defied Science” because his body said no to the bullets that hit him while responding in war-stricken Marawi.

Speaking with GMA News’ Raffy Tima, Sangcad said the doctors were surprised when one of the bullets that hit him shattered — yes, the bullet shattered — when it hit his bone.

Noong X-ray, ang sabi ng doktor, ano raw ang buto ko… stainless ba daw. Kasi ‘yung bullet ang nawasak. Hindi ‘yung buto. Nagulat ‘yung doktor,” Sangcad told GMA News.

(During the X-ray, the doctor told me that my bone is made of stainless steel because the bullet was destroyed, not my bone. The doctor was surprised.)

His hand was also shot, but the bullet didn’t “penetrate the flesh and was instead lodged in his palm.”

‘Yun ang milagro, hindi natin alam. ‘Yung nasa taas ang may alam diyan,” Sangcad said, referring to his Allah/God.

(That’s the miracle, we really don’t know. Only the one above knows about it.)

Sangcad’s colleagues are understandably amazed by the man who defied science — a great moniker for anyone currently deployed in any war.

Kakaiba pa rin, mangilan-ngilan lang ‘yung ganyan. Tawag nga namin sa kanya, the man who defied Science eh. Kasi ‘yung mga doktor din nagtataka,” said Sr. Supt. Marlon Tayaba of the PNP-ARMM Regional Public Safety Battalion.

(It’s really something else, only a few people are like that. We call him ‘the man who defied science,’ because even doctors are wondering.)

According to GMA News‘ report, “Sangcad was the lead scout of the Philippine Army” when they entered Marawi City and fought the Maute Group. He’s been part of the police force for two decades now, but even in his wounded state, he said he won’t think twice about going back to serve the country.

(I thank Allah and God that this happened to me… I didn’t die, I’m still alive. If I can still run [with this leg], I’ll still fight. We’re with the government, we won’t give up.)
