A gun is not a toy. You’d expect authorities to know that but not this police officer who yesterday fired a gun during a fiesta in Manila for no reason.

The fiesta in Manila’s Sampaloc district was interrupted by a commotion when Makati City police officer PO1 Louiejo Badajos randomly fired a gun into the air, reports state.

Shocked by what happened, residents of Barangay (Village) 411 immediately mobbed Badajos, ABS-CBN News reported.

They then called the nearest police station to report the incident, according to GMA News’ Unang Balita.

Lacson Police Community Precinct commander Senior Inspector Edwin Fugan told GMA News that people were frightened by the gunshot because kids were playing outside at the time.

You know, as they do during a fiesta.

According to the same report, Badajos used his 9mm service firearm in his little stunt. An empty bullet shell was even found in the area.

And the trouble-making cop did not even have a good reason for what he did.

Badajos told ABS-CBN News that he and his drinking buddy were just having fun. Oh, the crazy ideas alcohol gives people.

But Badajos probably isn’t laughing now.

The newbie cop, who has only been in service for two years according to GMA News, has been charged with illegal discharge of firearms.

While no one was hurt in the incident, he may also be fired for what he did.
