A domestic worker who said he lost his mind after being overworked took out his frustrations on his boss who he allegedly stabbed in the village of Ma-a in Talomo, Davao City on Tuesday.

Suspect Jerry Lumabao Alosuran was a stay-in domestic worker for corner store owner Rodelyn Vergil Mallorca. He allegedly stabbed his boss on Tuesday night while the latter was counting money, GMA News’ Balita Pilipinas reported. According to Remate, the violent crime happened right inside Mallorca’s store.

In an interview with Balita Pilipinas, the suspect said that he could not explain why he committed the crime and that it was like he lost his mind for being so overworked.

“We are three workers [working there]. I’m the only one who’s always working. I can’t do it all,” he said in Visayan. “It’s like I lost my mind. Like I was possessed by bad thoughts. I couldn’t understand how I was feeling at that time.”

However, the police said that it may not have been a crime of passion but something premeditated.

“We don’t know what his plan really was. He could have also [planned] to take the money after the incident,” Talomo Police chief P/Maj. Ronald Lao told Balita Pilipinas.

Mallorca, the victim, was brought to a hospital for treatment. Alosuran was arrested by a village officer and brought to a police station where he was charged with frustrated murder.
