These candidacies just get better and better.
On the same day a man claiming to be the “boyfriend” of former Duterte administration communications official Mocha Uson tried (and failed) to register his candidacy for the Senate, we got a guy claiming to be the ex-husband of actress and former presidential daughter Kris Aquino (spoiler alert: he’s not) do the same thing.
Daniel Magtira said he wants to run for senator so he can promote the revival of Filipino rock music, according to ABS-CBN News. Whether or not he’ll actually be able to is another story.
You see, this isn’t the first time that Magtira has attempted to run for public office — he filed in 2013 and 2016 as well, only to be declared a nuisance candidate by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
But the 57-year-old is hoping things will be different this time. GMA News quoted him saying in Filipino: “I hope I’ll be given a chance.”
He added: “[The promotion of] Pinoy rock, that’s for business. I’m the vocalist of Bad Face rock band. Our band leader is [a man named] Rey Santos.”
Sounds badass. And if nothing else, he’s managed to promote his band.
Magtira was also gracious enough to sing for the public at the COMELEC. Check out the video below, in which he displays his vocal range.

Magtira claimed that he was once married to Kris, but the marriage fell apart because her mother, the late President Corazon Aquino, was against their union. Good times.
Asked by Rappler if he had anything he wanted to say to Kris, Magtira said in Filipino: “Kris Aquino, if you’re watching right now, I still love you.”
