This day just keeps getting better and better.

A man claiming to be the ex-boyfriend of blogger and former government official Mocha Uson — who on Monday unveiled her own candidacy for public office — this morning announced plans to run for the Senate next year. He didn’t quite get the job done.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer this morning reported that the man, identified as Angon Tuana, filed his certificate of candidacy earlier today at the Commission on Elections’ headquarters in Intramuros, Manila.

Tuana vowed that if elected, he will lower the price of gas. RMN also reported that Tuana said he planned to resolve Metro Manila’s traffic woes. We like this guy already.

Sadly, however, our traffic woes will apparently need to be solved by someone else. ABS-CBN News has since reported that he failed to properly file his candidacy due to the lack of required documents.

Uson, a former actress and singer, was recently forced to deny reports that she was fired from her most recent position by President Rodrigo Duterte.

She said the rumors about her getting fired and her stated goal to stop the spread of fake news are what pushed her to run. Deeply ironic coming from someone who has been accused multiple times of spreading fake news.

When asked how long he was allegedly a couple with Uson, the would-be Senate hopeful Tuana was quoted by Rappler as saying: “Five nights!”

Five nights does not make someone a boyfriend, Tuana.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story said that Angon Tuana had filed documents to run for senator in the 2019 elections. It subsequently emerged that his candidacy was rejected due to the lack of required documents.
