If you live in Laguna and need a way to shuttle between Biñan and Calamba, then here’s some good news: the Philippine National Railway (PNR) is offering free train rides to and from both cities on its hybrid-electric train.

Passengers can enjoy free rides aboard PNR’s Hybrid Electric Train (HET), a Philippine-made hybrid train set developed by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) from November 11 to December 3.

Created as a solution to the country’s worsening traffic situation, the HET is claimed to be the first mass transport vehicle of its kind in the country, and can reportedly accommodate 900 people.

The HET train will depart from Calamba and Biñan cities three times daily in the morning and afternoons.
