Korean tourist dies in parasailing mishap in Cebu

A vacation in Cebu turned into a disaster after a South Korean man died in a parasailing accident on Lapu-Lapu Island on Tue morning.

According to a report by ABS-CBN News, “the man and his wife fell into the water after the line linking their parachute to a speedboat snapped off.”

Reports say that the couple allegedly insisted on doing the water activity in spite of a gale warning from state weather bureau. There were 6 Koreans who were scheduled to go parasailing on that day.

“Seong Soo Kim was declared dead-on-arrival at the Mactan Doctors Hospital while his 60-year-old wife Jam Sik Lim was in stable condition,” reports the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Investigations are still ongoing. The company which handled the parasailing arrangements are now cooperating with the authorities.
