When it comes to viral wedding proposals, you probably think you’ve seen it all — from a marching band and fireworks to bizarre hostage situations and fake arrests. But here’s one that’s not as flashy but no less unique in its own way: a gamer proposed to his girlfriend last week through their favorite online game, Genshin Impact.
Ronica Cabansag shared the details in a now-viral Facebook post, where she described her boyfriend as an “extreme introvert.”
Ronica’s boyfriend invited her to his home, she wrote, and told her that he had a surprise for her.
“I (got) the intuition that something would happen but my mind wouldn’t accept it because I know he’s not into romantic stuff,” she wrote on social media, adding that she was interested in finding out how an introvert would plan a surprise.
“Pagka-open ko ng kwarto n’ya, may sumilip na lights and balloons. I got mixed emotions. Umiiyak and tumatawa at the same time and takot ituloy buksan ‘yung pinto (When I opened his bedroom door, I saw lights and balloons. I got mixed emotions. I was laughing and crying at the same time and I was scared to fully open the door),” Ronica shared.
A laptop showing their favorite game was sitting on top of her boyfriend’s bed.
“He created some obstacles and maze in the game. It was very creative because I know it’s so hard to make. And he even said it took him more than one month because he needs to buy the things or supplies in the shop of the game,” she said.
As Ronica’s avatar climbed rocks and flew over the open world, her boyfriend spread out messages throughout the game that read, “Roses are red, violets are blue, forever is real with you.”
He finally popped the question through the final maze: “Will you be my waifu?”
“So that’s how an extreme introvert proposes. Not flashy. Not crowded. No pressure,” she shared.
The couple is reportedly planning to get married this year.
