Don’t do business with this scammer.

Earlier this week, the Land Transportation Office – National Capital Region (LTO-NCR) warned the public on their Facebook account about a scammer who promises to help people obtain their driver’s licenses.

However, the LTO-NCR said that doing business with the man will only get them fake licenses.

The LTO is a government agency that issues drivers’ licenses and vehicle plates to motorists in the Philippines.

Based on screenshots shared by the LTO-NCR, the man goes by the name of Hauddin Ryan. Other screenshots shared by the LTO shows that Ryan tells netizens that he could assist in the processing of drivers’ licenses as well as postal IDs and the Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID).

The LTO-NCR wrote in their caption: “Online Scam. This person is not connected with [the] LTO and you can only get fake license (sic) if you transact with him.”

Adding a dose of humor to the situation, the LTO-NCR added: “Do not call him [a] fixer because he cannot fix anything.”

A fixer, in this sense, is a person who, in exchange for a fee, promises people that he could give them their government documents quickly by helping them navigate through red tape. Fixers are commonly found in the Philippines because many government agencies take forever to process documents and other requests.

At present, the LTO-NCR’s post has been shared almost 140 times.

Netizens have thoughts about the issue, of course.

Ray Ranieses said that the LTO-NCR has to address the long process that people have to go through to obtain drivers’ licenses.

He said: “Another is, this problem is coming from the inside out (sic). These fixers are coming from people inside your office.”

Camarin Loft suggested that the LTO-NCR should find a way to trap the alleged scammer.

Another netizen suggested that the LTO-NCR should apprehend, prosecute, and jail the man.

Take heed, netizens.
