Desperate times call for desperate measures.

A former vice mayor of Marilao town in Bulacan is currently holed up in his home as an attempt to avoid his arrest.

Radyo Inquirer reported that politician Andre Santos has been inside his house since last night. He is refusing to face authorities who were ordered to serve him an arrest warrant for qualified theft issued by a Parañaque City regional trial court.

To keep police officers away, Santos threatened that he had a handgun and grenade, GMA News reported.

A report by ABS-CBN News states that Santos even showed the gun and grenade to reporters through a video call.

His relatives claim that he’s been depressed since losing the vice mayoral race in 2016, Bombradyo reported.

Santos also served as a councilor in the past and is running for mayor in next year’s mid-term elections.

Earlier this year, he admitted that he used to be involved in illegal drugs but isn’t anymore, GMA News reported.

In a phone call with Coconuts Manila, a representative from the Marilao Police Station said that Santos remains inside his house and that authorities are communicating with him via phone through a negotiator.
