The confinement of former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. at the St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) in Bonifactio Global City, Taguig was extended as he will undergo biopsy.
Because of this, the return of Revilla to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City where he is currently detained will be delayed.
At the same time, the PNP Custodial Security Escort (PNP-CSE) has told Sandiganbayan First Division Chair Associate Justice Efren Dela Cruz that they were about to fetch Revilla on Wed afternoon, Nov 9, but he was not allowed to be discharged from confinement by his attending physician.
Dr. Rolando Ochoa, an orthophaedic surgeon at St. Luke’s, is the attending physician of Revilla.
Ochoa recommended that Revilla has to undergo biopsy and extend his confinement for further examination and treatment.
The former senator was rushed to the hospital last week due to severe headache, high blood pressure, and vomiting.
The Sandiganbayan First Division granted the motion of the camp of the former senator to remain at St. Luke’s until he is discharged.
The Office of the Ombudsman (Ombudsman) did not oppose the motion of the actor-turned-politician to temporarily remain in the hospital for humanitarian reasons.
In the latest medical bulletin issued by St. Luke’s, Revilla was diagnosed of having acute migraine headache, tenosynovitis in his right shoulder, reactive hypertension, esophagitis and non-erosive gastritis.
Revilla is facing plunder charges before the Sandiganbayan for his alleged involvement in the anomalous multi-million pork barrel fund allotted in a bogus non-government organization (NGO) of Janet Lim Napoles.
Napoles is the alleged “brains” behind the PHP10-billion pork barrel and the PHP900-million Malampaya Fund scams. —Philippine News Agency (PNA)
