Father hits 5-year-old’s head with hammer 

This is not a way to discipline a child.

A man has been arrested in Hermosa town in the province of Bataan after allegedly hitting his 5-year-old child with a hammer on Sunday.

And he did it out of nowhere, too.

GMA News’ Unang Balita reported that the unnamed father allegedly harassed the child and hit him with the tool after arriving home. The report also showed photos of the toddler’s wounded head and bruised leg.

According to Barangay (village) Sacrifice Valley officials, this isn’t the first time the father abused his child.

Just last month, he also allegedly hit the toddler with a broom for disobeying his orders to not play around with a portable DVD player.

Barangay Captain Alfonso Cortez said that the suspect usually abuses his child while he’s drunk. He also allegedly hit his wife, who has now left him.

Village officials have asked the town’s social welfare and development office to take the suspect’s two children into temporary custody.
