Politicians do love hearing their names said aloud in public (as long as the situation’s favorable). But this village captain from Lasam, Cagayan in northern Philippines takes it to a whole new level.

In a ’24 Oras’ report Sat (May 20) night, Fred Arthur Agatep — the president of the Association of Barangay (village) Captains, nonetheless — was clearly caught slapping the event host from behind as the latter was hosting the town’s Tinupig Festival.

In the same video, Agatep was also shown in drunken stupor, barely walking in a straight line on stage.

According to a GMA News report, the drunk village chief didn’t hear his name mentioned by the host, which was a surprise to other people at the event who heard his name clearly. Granted, these people weren’t as drunk as the captain.

The captain is yet to issue a statement on the incident as of posting.
