The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) opened five temporary off-site passport service centers yesterday, July 5, 2021, to relieve the backlog of passport services that has built up during the pandemic.
The five sites—SM Mall of Asia, SM City North Edsa, SM Aura, Robinsons Place Las Pinas, and Robinsons Place Magnolia—is expected to open 177,500 additional slots until the end of the year.
The offsite service located in will open additional 177,500 slots for passport application and renewal until December.
Before the pandemic, the DFA was able to process up to 13,000 passport appointments daily, but because of limitations caused by the pandemic, the number had dropped to less than half, to just 6,000.
Philippine citizens may book an appointment slot through the DFA passport appointment site.
