The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) apologized this morning when its website got bogged down by technical issues, right on the first day of registration for the national ID.
“We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Our technical team is currently figuring out the source of the problem,” the organization said in a statement.

“We will provide updates as soon as the website is up and running. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” it added.
National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Karl Chua earlier said that the registration will enable the PSA to collect citizens’ data. Applicants will later have to go to physical registration centers for biometrics and to open a bank account. IDs will be delivered in May.
Filipinos own multiple government-issued IDs, from passports to postal IDs. The national ID law, enacted in 2018, was passed with the intention of combining all IDs into one.
