Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald Dela Rosa on Friday said he is open to giving a testimony in the Senate regarding the alleged “Davao Death Squad.”
Dela Rosa, along with his wife Nancy, inaugurated the new Regional Women and Children Protection Desk, Playground and Shelter in Camp Quintin Mericido at the PNP Regional Office XI in Buhangin, Davao City.
Asked to comment on retired SPO3 Arthur Lascañas’ allegations that Dela Rosa was involved in planning the killings in Davao City, the PNP chief said he’d rather give a testimony at the Senate.
“No comment muna ako niyan. Bigla, ang Senado mag-conduct ng investigation, doon ko na lang ibigay ang side of my story kung meron man. Doon ko na lang iyan sagutin just in case mag-open ng investigation,” Dela Rosa said.
(No comment. In case the Senate conducts an investigation, I will give my side of the story, if any. I will answer that there just in case they open an investigation.)
“Hindi ako malinis na tao. Di ako malinis na pulis. Meron na ako napatay. In fact, di ko mabilang. Pero di ganoon kadami,” Dela Rosa said.
(I am not a clean person. I am not a clean policeman. I have killed someone. In fact, I lost count, but they’re not many.)
He also reminded policemen to follow standard operating procedures, especially when responding to areas infiltrated by rebels.
He gave this reminder following the ambush of policemen in Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
“Pumasok sila sa bitag, so ingat. My instruction goes to all over the Philippines. Alam nila may area sila na may presensya ng kalaban,” Dela Rosa said.
