While the police said yesterday that the DNA sample from the body did not match samples taken from parents of slain teenager Reynaldo de Guzman, his parents are certain that the body found belongs to their son.

Lina de Guzman, Reynaldo’s mother told reporters this morning, “it’s really my son. If you juxtapose his picture with the video, you’ll see it’s really him.”
Eddie, the boy’s father, said he wants another DNA test done. “We’re only poor, but the truth will come out,” he said.

Persida Acosta, chief of the Public Attorney’s Office pointed out, “Why did we even need a DNA test? His face was in tact and the body was not decomposing.”
“The source of the DNA profile obtained cannot be the biographical offspring of Eduardo Garbrila y Sta. Ana and Lina De Guzman y Dagante,” Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Deputy Director Fernando Mendez Jr. said in a press briefing.
Police officials stand by the accuracy of their DNA test.
