The body of a boy stabbed dozens of times and found in Nueva Ecija last week was not that of Reynaldo de Guzman, the 14-year-old companion of slain teenager Carl Angelo Arnaiz, police said Monday.

The DNA sample from the body did not match samples taken from De Guzman’s parents, Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Deputy Director Fernando Mendez Jr. said in a press briefing.

“The source of the DNA profile obtained cannot be the biographical offspring of Eduardo Garbrila y Sta. Ana and Lina De Guzman y Dagante,” Mendez said.

The identity of the body was still unknown, the official said.

De Guzman’s father earlier said he was able to confirm that it was his son through a mark on the boy’s neck and a wart on the left knee.

The boy, he added, had burns covering some of his identifying marks and had smelled of gasoline.

“It was like he was burned, the warts were peeled off. When I arrived, it smelled like gasoline. Neither the strike on his nape, nor the mole on his side be recognized. The warts on his knees were the only things I could see,” Eduardo said.

De Guzman and 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz had been missing since they left their homes in Cainta, Rizal on August 17.

Arnaiz was reportedly killed in a shootout with police in Caloocan City after allegedly attempting to rob a taxi driver.

The body initially reported as De Guzman’s was found floating in a creek in Gapan, Nueva Ecija last week, his head wrapped in packing tape and body bearing dozens of stab wounds.

His remains were later transferred to a morgue, which his parents located the following day.
