Like many Filipinos, it looks like Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial enjoys her fried chicken.
And despite a bird flu outbreak in northern Luzon, Ubial was determined to show that everyone can still enjoy their favorite fried chicken joints without worry.
She did it by calling a press conference this morning and biting down on a boiled egg and a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) drumstick on live TV.

“As long as chicken and eggs are processed and cooked properly, there’s no risk of transmission through consumption,” Ubial said in Filipino.
According to World Health Organization guidelines, poultry products should be cooked above 70 degrees Celsius to kill potential Avian flu virus.
