Raymond Dominguez, one of the most famous inmates in Mandaluyong City’s New Bilibid Prisons, was reportedly found dead inside his cell today, according to local media.
“He was asked to wake up so he could be accounted for, but he wouldn’t answer. So they opened his small room and they saw him unresponsive and lifeless,” Bureau of Corrections spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag told CNN Philippines.

Chaclag said that the inmate, who was staying at the Maximum Security Compound, suffered several ailments such as asthma, hypertension, arthritis, and diabetes. A formal investigation into his death has yet to be launched, and his body hasn’t been autopsied.
Raymond and his brother Roger Dominguez were allegedly members of a carnapping group, and they had been accused of killing car salesmen Venson Evangelista and Emerson Lozano in January 2011. Both had denied the allegation. Roger, however, was eventually convicted in 2012 for stealing a Toyota Fortuner.
The convict tested positive for COVID-19 in 2020, leading an anti-crime group to announce that he had died of the disease. The authorities had denied the rumor, adding that Raymond was merely isolated to ensure that no one would get infected with the coronavirus.
