Businessman in Cotabato escapes assassination attempt, chases down, kills gunman

A businessman in Pikit town in Cotabato survived an assassination attempt and ended up ramming and killing one of the gunmen with his car yesterday.

Jade Omar, 50, was driving his red, bulletproof Mitsubishi Montero in the village of Poblacion when two men on a motorcycle pulled up and began shooting at his car, Bombo Radyo reports.

Omar survived the attack, but instead of stopping, he drove after the two gunmen and rammed their motorbike. One of the alleged gunmen, Antong Ibrahim, AKA Anthony Balindong, fell off the motorbike and died on the spot, Notre Dame Broadcasting Corporation reports. However, Ibrahim’s accomplice was unscathed and escaped from the scene.

The police are searching for the other gunman and are investigating the suspects’ motives. Omar, meanwhile, has turned over his bullet-riddled Montero to the cops for investigation, Philippine Star reports.
