The liquor ban has been reimposed in Baguio City after residents were infected in drinking sessions that occurred in a few villages, with one case caused by the use of a single shot glass.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong implemented the ban which started yesterday, after announcing that some cases have appeared in areas near slaughterhouses.

There were 43 new cases reported in the city, 33 of whom were contacts of current cases, eight symptomatic, and two were discovered through expanded testing.
Magalong said in a statement that the increase in cases shows that residents have yet to learn their lesson about the effects of boozing.
“When we indulge, we do not anymore care about the health protocols so things lead to serious consequences like this clustering of cases that we now have in that area,” he said.
He said in an interview with news program 24 Oras that City Hall discovered that poor hygiene led several people to get ill in one area.
“There was a drinking session in one village, they were eating and then they used just one shot glass while drinking [alcohol]. So this leaves a huge implication. A lot of people in that village were infected,” he said in English and Filipino.
As of yesterday, there are 579 COVID-19 cases in the city, including 191 active, 12 deaths and 176 recoveries. Baguio City was supposed to re-open to tourists from the Ilocos Region, but this was postponed to Oct. 1 due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases.
