Four people — including two senior citizens — were charged for usurpation of authority after they were caught pretending to be hospital employees just so they could enter Baguio City, the local government announced today.
The suspects, all of whom were residents of La Union, were identified as Violeta Rivera, 69 years old; David Rivera, 60; Elizabeth Rivera, 42; and Nick Narag Sy, 34. It’s unclear how they’re related, but authorities said that the four claimed they were staying at Lourdes Extension on Baguio’s Naguillian Road.

Police Director Col. Allen Rae Co said the four entered the city onboard a van and were apprehended at a checkpoint along Marcos Highway on Tuesday at around 9:30am.
The suspects presented documents saying that they were employees of the Baguio General Hospital Medical Center, but the hospital said those were fake. Co said that all the suspects have been arrested by the police and are currently facing charges filed against them by a representative of the Baguio General Hospital.
Baguio City is currently under the general community quarantine. Only returning residents and people on essential travel who have permits are allowed to enter the city. As of yesterday, the city has 102 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including eight deaths and 152 recoveries.
