New year, new me?

Not for the MRT.

The train line troubles continued this new year when over 620 passengers had to be offloaded right after boarding.

According to ABS-CBN News, all of the passengers on board at around 5:40 this morning had to get off and walk to the next station to wait for the MRT to fix the problem.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said it was due to an electrical failure.

According to the same report, seven out of 10 days this month have experienced what they call “technical problems.”

While technical glitches in the MRT are hardly news anymore, in 2017, we saw all sorts of other crazy things happening in trains from doors opening while the train is moving, to train cars completely detaching from each other, and a woman’s arm being sliced off between train cars.

And as the new year begins, the same headlines continue.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque probably does not need to go on another “test ride” to see how this train needs urgent fixing.

Your move, DOTr and congress.
