Well, we’ve got one hand in our pocket, and the other is… typing up this story about Alanis Morissette coming to Manila.
That’s right Gen-X’ers, the ’90s queen of alt-rock angst herself is bringing her “Jagged Little Pill” world tour to Manila for a one-night-only performance at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on April 6, the artist announced on social media today.
The Canadian-born singer-songwriter’s breakout 1995 studio album (which you can binge-listen to below) was the soundtrack of a generation, and raked in no fewer than five Grammys (including Album of the Year) way back when. It also ranked 45th in Rolling Stone‘s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
That’s is probably why the 14-track album was adapted into a three-act rock opera by Diablo Cody (the writer behind Juno and Jennifer’s Body). The musical premiered in the American Repertory Theater in May 2018, and was reprised on Broadway last November and December.

It looks like it’ll be a while yet before the musical comes to town, but don’t worry, everything’s gonna be fine, fine, fine. After all, we’ve got Alanis herself coming to town. According to local concert organizer Ovation Productions, ticket prices range from PHP2,700 (US$53) up to PHP12,700 (US$250), and will go on sale on Feb. 5 via SM Tickets.
Be sure to mark your calendars. You don’t want to be one of the biggest Pinoy Alanis fan ever, but miss the concert because tickets were already sold out. That would be sorta… oh, what’s the word?
Ironic.
Too easy? We’ll see ourselves out.
