Score cool and affordable art prints while supporting your favorite local artists

Ever wished you could score pieces from famed local artists like Elmer Borlongan, Romeo Lee, Roxlee, and Robert Alejandro? Is the steep price tag setting you back? Don’t fret.

For the entire month of June, you can cop relatively affordable digital art prints created by the same names, plus a string of your favorite local illustrators and up-and-coming creatives, through online marketplace Shelter Fund.

The website, which originally started as an initiative to help photographers earn extra cash despite the lockdown, has included illustrators and artists in the second leg of their run, which kicked off yesterday.

Over 40 artists, including design duo Electrolychee, comic creator Apol Sta. Maria, and even street artists BLIC and Ang Gerilya will have 6- to 16-inch prints on sale with prices starting at PHP1,000 (US$20) and can go up to PHP9,500 (US$188). Other prints’ prices are also available upon request.

Proceeds from the sale will help support local artists and illustrators, and a portion of it will go to a communal fund for the Quezon City-based artists’ support group.

“Through your purchase, you help keep us safe in our homes, able to continue and contribute; and more importantly, all of us have committed to contributing part of our individual sales to a communal fund, making sure everyone is benefitted by your generosity,” they said in a statement today.

“The ideals remain the same: to protect, to provide, to unite,” Shelter Fund added.
