They say it’s the job of artists to disturb the comfortable. Well, for those who are comfortable gloating about the recent election victory of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., a group of independent rappers in the Philippines has released a compilation album that is sure to disturb them, aptly titled HINDI KO PRESIDENTE (Not My President). It has been released by the cultural group Tambisan sa Sining (Interaction in Arts) just two weeks before the former senator and son of dictator Ferdinand Marcos is set to be inaugurated as the country’s 17th president.

Featuring cover art of the younger and elder Marcos in blood-stained red, the politically-charged album features 10 tracks by artists WYP, M466OT, obese.dogma777, karlovvv, Arkibong Bayan, Echo, NiMa, Mocksmile, skinxbones, and PROLET.

With track titles such as “Tinatakwil Namin Kayo” (We Reject You), “Mas Masahol na Elitista” (More Vicious Elitists), “Kasama sa Galit” (Together in Anger), the artists certainly don’t mince words. Most tracks sample audio from speeches, interviews, and protests against Marcos Jr.’s win, alongside calls for agrarian reform and workers’ rights.
