It’s been more than a week since Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte made his “Who is this stupid God?” comment yet observers in other parts of the globe are still talking about it.

Emmy award-winning The Daily Show ran a short segment about Duterte’s anti-God quip in its June 28 episode. Trevor Noah, the host of the news satire show, introduced the president as “kinda like Trump except he’s a foreigner, instead of the guy who hates foreigners.”

He describes Duterte further: “He’s creepy around women, he dislikes Obama for no good reason, and just like Trump, he’s always saying something controversial.”

Duterte previously courted controversy for kissing a married overseas Filipino worker on the lips when he visited South Korea, an issue that was featured on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, another news satire show.

On The Daily Show episode, Noah then proceeded to show a clip of Duterte in his infamous speech where he discussed Adam and Eve and said: “You created something perfect and then you think of an event to tempt and destroy the quality of your world. Who is this stupid God?”

Quipped Noah: “Oh man, that audience did not like that. They looked like when TMZ’s staff [saw] Kanye West walk in. That’s what they looked like.”

Noah pretends to be shocked then added: “You don’t have to bring big theological questions about Adam and Eve, I mean God made a bear that’s too fat to f*ck, that’s stupid! That’s silly.”

The video, which was uploaded on YouTube over the weekend, drew various comments from The Daily Show’s fans and, of course, some internet trolls.

Commenting on the outrage that many Filipinos felt, Gv Athvaidh wrote: “Wow, so THIS is where they [Filipinos] draw a line with him?”

Appearing to agree is a fan by the name of Memo C, who wrote: “Yet they’re [Filipinos] totally cool with having police slaughter people.”

Akshay Anand, who probably thinks the president is an atheist, wrote: “[Y]ou can be an atheist without calling theists stupid. I know theists haven’t been the best behaved in the past few millennia, and quite a few of them still haven’t learned civility or the concept of ‘live and let live,’ but if we treat the theists the same way they treat others, we are no better than savages.”

A user who goes by the name Sleepy Time poked fun at believers by saying: “How dare he insult the make believe man in the sky!”

One user, however, said the question was valid. Wrote a fan who used the name 66.6SaXoN66.6 Metal: “But his question was very good. Who is this stupid God?”

The video has received more than 6,200 likes and has been viewed more than 293,000 times.

The Daily Show is a news satire program that first started airing in 1996. It was hosted by Craig Kilborn, followed by Jon Stewart, then Noah. It’s the longest-running program on United States cable channel Comedy Central.
