The mother of Geneva Cruz had died of COVID-19, the singer announced yesterday.
“With hearts broken and full of sorrow, our family would like to let you know that our Mom, Marilyn Cruz, is now in heaven,” Geneva wrote in an online post.
“We will forever remember each of you who prayed and helped in whatever way that you can. She is gone too soon, and no one can ever replace her in our hearts,” the singer added.

A day before Geneva announced her mother’s passing, she said that Marilyn had to be intubated due to severe pneumonia.
“How can she not be okay today when she was okay yesterday?! I don’t understand this!!! She’s supposed to be getting better,” Geneva wrote.
Geneva organized a virtual concert last week to raise funds for her mother’s treatment. Prior to the death of Marilyn, the mother of Jean Garcia also passed away due to COVID.
Geneva belongs to a family of artists, and she counts actresses Sunshine Cruz, Donna Cruz, and Sheryl Cruz as her cousins.
