Metalheads, assemble! Slipknot will (finally) perform in Manila in 2020

American “nu metal” band Slipknot — known for their ever-present masks and heavy-as-a-ton-of-bricks sound — will be performing in Manila at Quezon City’s Amoranto Stadium in March of next year as part of the Asian leg of their “We Are Not Your Kind World Tour.”

This marks the first time the band will be performing in the country, following a cancelled Manila tour in 2004. The announcement was made last night by concert organizers Pulp Live World, giving Filipino Slipknot fans (or “maggots,” as they call themselves) four months’ notice by pinning the awaited concert date at March 29, 2020.

Tickets will go on sale on Nov. 23, with prices pegged at PHP2,220 (US$43), PHP5,550 (US$109), and PHP6,660 (US$131). Fans can purchase them from SM Tickets, TicketNet, and AirAsia RedTix websites.

On Facebook, fans were giddy about the announcement, with several saying that they’ve been waiting for the Grammy Award-winning metal giants to play in Manila after the band’s canceled show 15 years ago.

The concert comes at the heels of Slipknot’s sixth and most recent studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, released in August this year. The group will be playing new tracks off the album including lead single “Unsainted,” and probably longtime fan favorites and hits like “Duality,” “Wait and Bleed,” and “Disturbed.”

Slipknot’s current nine members — front man Corey Taylor, Mick Thomson, Jim Root, Craig Jones, Alessandro Venturella, Sid Wilson, Jay Weinberg, Shawn Crahan, and Chris Fehn — will see you maggots in March.
