This year could be the biggest season for the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Not for those who follow college sports but for K-pop fans because girl group Momoland will perform at the opening of its 81st season on Sept. 8.
The news was announced by the National University (NU) on its official Twitter account yesterday, complete with a clip of several students performing the group’s biggest hit, Bboom Bboom. NU is this year’s host of the UAAP.

SM’s Mall of Asia Arena will be the opening season’s venue. However, there’s been no news yet when tickets would be available.
Momoland is undeniably one of the most popular female K-pop groups in the Philippines right now, so it won’t be surprising if the arena will be filled to the rafters during the opening ceremony.

Formed in 2016, Momoland is composed of Lee Hye Bin, Yeonwoo, Jane Sung, Kim Taeha, Kim Nayun, Daisy Yoo, Joo E Lee, Lee Ahin, and Nancy Jewel McDonie.
McDonie is arguably the most popular in the Philippines as fans say she has a striking resemblance to local actress Liza Soberano.
The group arrived in Manila last week for an exclusive concert at Solaire Resort Manila on Saturday.
Their trip included a visit to senator-cum-boxer Manny Pacquiao’s house where they got to pose for several photos with Manny and his wife Jinkee.
