If you’re one of those bargain hunters who think that the pandemic’s global freeze on travel also makes this prime time for bargains, well, you’d be right.
Aptly named SOS — which stands for the September Online Sale — the virtual travel bazaar starts tomorrow, September 15, and lasts an entire month, till October 15. At least 80 hotels from tourist hotspots all over the country have signed up to offer packages of as much as 70 percent off.
Among the hotels that will offer vouchers at the SOS are five-star Manila hotels like The Peninsula, Okada, Conrad, Discovery Primea, and Shangri-La at the Fort.
In Boracay, participating hotels include Shangri-La Boracay, Discovery Shores, and Movenpick.
Hotels in other tourist destinations include Bluewater Maribago, Marco Polo Plaza, Be Resort Mactan, and Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu; Astoria Palawan, Club Paradise, and Miniloc Island Resort in Palawan; and Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation and Waterfront Insular in Davao.
Hotel ancillary services, such as food and beverage packages, banquets, spa, gym and pool, and other facilities of the hotel will also be on offer, along with the standard hotel vacation packages.
The discounted packages may be used within a year from the date of purchase — and (because pandemic) may be extended upon request.
This year’s SOS is the second time the event will run, after the first SOS generated almost Php14 million in much-needed revenue for the hotels after the pandemic shut everything down. Thankfully, the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines — and the subsequent vaccination of tourism frontliners — means that things are a little bit more hopeful in 2021.
The available packages and voucher prices will be revealed tomorrow at the SOS page on the Hotel Sales and Management Association website. Get your mouse and credit card ready, especially if you like any of the following hotels who will participate in tomorrow’s big sale:
