Whether you’re a K-Drama fan or just want to scratch that travel itch, here’s some good news: South Korea just reinstated visa-free travel for Filipinos traveling to Jeju Island.
Starting June 1, Filipinos and other select nationalities may travel to Jeju Island without a visa once more after the South Korean government suspended visa-free short-term visits as a precautionary measure during the pandemic.
Philippine passport holders may visit Jeju Island without a visa for 30 days.
Aside from Jeju Island, travelers from the Philippines, Vietnam, and Indonesia in groups of five or more may also travel without a visa to Yangyang, a province known for its beaches.
Interested travelers will need to prepare roundtrip tickets, a Philippine passport, proof of vaccination (those who received their second dose more than 180 days ago are required to have gotten a booster dose), a negative RT-PCR test taken 48 hours before departure or a rapid antigen test taken 24 hours prior, as well as an on-site RT-PCR test within three days of arriving in Jeju Island or Yangyang.
The visa-free rule does not apply to citizens of 24 countries and 10 other countries that have mutually suspended their visa-free waiver programs with South Korea such as Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau. (More information on that here.)
