Yes, even big-time bands fan over celebrities too.
Local indie folk-pop group Ben&Ben watched John Mayer’s concert in Hong Kong on Monday and brought home a special souvenir — the musician’s guitar pick and the unforgettable experience of meeting him in the flesh.
The nine-member band posted a photo with Mayer last night and said it was “a dream.”
The band wrote in their caption in all caps: “WE MET JOHN MAYER LAST NIGHT. HE GAVE HIS PICK. WE GAVE HIM OUR ALBUM. A dream.”
Aside from the cool guitar pick and the group shot, they also managed to give Mayer a copy of their upcoming debut album called Limasawa Street, which will be released next month.
Netizens thought loved their encounter too.
Facebook user Don Bautista thought of a beautiful “what if” moment.
“WHAT JOHN MAYER EMAILS YOU: ‘Hi guys, I already heard your album and I am pretty much interested on having a collaboration with your band. Reply to me soonest if you’re interested.
All the best, John Mayer’.”

Mj Tian-sing referenced Mayer’s “Still Feel Like Your Man” hit: “I still feel like your ben.”

Miguel Halayahay also had a witty comment and referenced Mayer’s “Your Body is a Wonderland”: “Your album is a wonderland.”

Emem Dioso mixed Mayer’s “I Guess I Just Feel Like” and Ben&Ben’s “Maybe the Night” hits in one comment. “I guess I just feel like maybe the night holds a little hope for us.”

Ben&Ben features brothers Paolo and Miguel Guico who both play acoustic guitar and vocals. Other members include Poch Barretto on electric guitar, Jam Villanueva on drums, Agnes Reoma on bass, Patricia Lasaten on keyboards, Toni Muñoz and Andrew de Pano on percussions, and Keifer Cabugao on violin.
The band has been making waves in the local music scene with their hits “Leaves,” “Kathang Isip,” and “Ride Home.” They also performed while they were in Hong Kong.
Mayer will head to Tokyo, Japan on April 10 and 11 to wrap up his Asian tour. Sadly, he will not have a show in Manila. In the meantime, you can watch Mayer’s “premium content” music video of “New Light.”
