You’ll probably recognize him as Mateo from the NBC hit “Superstore.”
Filipino American comedian Nico Santos has recently been casted on the silver screen adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s 2013 bestselling book Crazy Rich Asians, says Deadline.
Santos himself shared the news on his Instagram account.
“I know I said I was in KL getting some work done but the truth is I’m actually doing some work. SO excited to be a part of this,” he said.
Earlier this year, director Jon Chu released a video asking Asian actors to post audition videos online to be considered for a role in the movie.
Chu earlier said that he will cast “amazing Asian actors in EVERY SINGLE ROLE.”

It is still unclear what role Santos will play.
Other actors in the movie include Singaporeans Pierre Png, Fiona Xie and Tan Kheng Hua, as well as Malaysian-born actress Michelle Yeoh, comedian Ronny Chieng and rapper Awkwafina.
Rumor has it that the Philippines’ “Queen of All Media” Kris Aquino is also going to be part of the project, but she has been surprisingly silent about it. Is she really part of the movie? We’ll hear about it soon enough.
