Crazy Rich Asians, the 2013 bestselling novel by Singaporean author Kevin Kwan, has begun filming its movie adaptation in Singapore and Malaysia. Directed by Jon M. Chu — the man behind Now You See Me 2 and G.I. Joe: Retaliation — the story follows Nick Young, an NYU history professor from a wealthy Singaporean old money family, and his fellow professor girlfriend Rachel Chu, who discovers the extent of his family’s deep pockets when he brings her home for his best friend’s wedding.

Singapore-based host Henry Golding is slated to star as Nick, while everyone’s favorite Fresh Off The Boat tiger mum Constance Wu will play Rachel. Other actors in the cast include Singaporeans Pierre Png, Fiona Xie and Tan Kheng Hua, as well as Malaysian-born actress Michelle Yeoh, comedian Ronny Chieng and rapper/actress Awkwafina.

We don’t know about you, but we kinda really loved the witty, satirical book. So here’s hoping the film does it justice.
