David Archuleta may have been a runner-up during American Idol‘s season 7 back in 2008, but his star power — at least in the Philippines — is far still very from fading.  He arrived in Manila on Tuesday, five years after his last visit.

After having been away for so long, his Filipino fans were clearly thrilled to see him again.

His arrival and upcoming concert tomorrow even made him a trending topic in the Philippines on Twitter.

His main purpose for coming back is a solo concert at the Kia Theatre in Cubao and to launch his latest album Postcards in the Sky.

Archuleta has a special connection with his Filipino fans. In 2012, he released an album called Forevermore that contains covers of Original Pilipino Music.

He also starred in the local teleserye (soap opera) Nandito Ako (Here I Am) with actress Jasmine Curtis.

Here’s a clip to jog your memory:

Could Archuleta be making a comeback to Philippine TV this time around? We don’t know yet, but if you could pair him up with any Philippine star right now, who would it be? Let us know in the comments below!
