The house that fried chicken built is hitting Metro Vancouver’s streets this summer as Max’s announced the coming of its very first, fully-equipped food truck.
ABS-CBN’s North American news program Balitang America got a quick tour of the truck, which was custom-made all the way from Ontario.
Faye Nalicat grew up with Max’s chicken in the Philippines and is excited about Max’s food truck in the city.
“I’ve always been a fan of Max’s restaurant, because I did grow up in the Philippines, and it always is one of our trips to go there,” said Nalicat. “Coming to
Canada and finding a food truck it’s exciting; there is no food truck in the Vancouver area that provides authentic Filipino cuisine.”
Max’s made the announcement during its 5th anniversary celebration in Vancouver.
They said launching a food truck was the most cost-effective way of expanding, and it will also give them an idea on the areas where demand is greatest.
Owners admit the past five years have been challenging especially after the excitement of having the Pinoy fried chicken in the city died down.
But they are thankful to the many Filipinos who continue to support, adding travel agencies have even included a Max’s stop for some Pinoy groups
traveling all the way from Seattle to Portland.
“[Max’s is] Seventy years old and transcends generations. At one point or another, you’ve attended a wedding, a baptism, or a graduation [here] so it’s really ingrained in the Filipino culture to have Max’s in your everyday life,” said Atty. Christopher Garcia, franchise owner of Max’s Vancouver.
Calgary, meantime, also opened its first Max’s branch on June 1, bringing to five the total number of Max’s restaurants across Canada.”
