Crazy things can happen on the internet — such as a music icon on the other side of the globe tweeting about an elected Filipino leader.
The legendary Cher practically broke Filipino Twitter after she had posted about Vice President Leni Robredo, who is seeking the presidency in the upcoming May 2022 elections.
It all started when the 75-year-old “Believe” singer wrote “Excuse Don’t Know Leni (sic)” after “Leni” trended on the bird platform — as one would tend to do when a locally specific Twitter trend transcends geographic borders.

Filipino fans rushed to the singer’s Twitter thread, where they quickly explained what “Leni” meant, and who she was.

Cher replied to user @guinghyung who tweeted at her, praising the vice president and showing her support for women fighting for justice, saying “Let women do it.”

Filipino fans loved the exchange and shared Cher’s tweet, with over 80,000 likes and 27,000 retweets as of writing.
Supporters of Robredo also shared a video of the vice president dancing with “Kakampinks” to “Believe” at a public event.

Naturally, Twitter users were ecstatic at the award-winning singer’s show of support, even wondering whether “Believe,” which peaked at number one in over 20 countries in 1998, would re-enter the charts.

If this was done by a DDS, we would have doubted this quote card, but alas, these are strange times, and in these times, things like Cher supporting VP Leni can happen. If u doubt it, check Cher’s tweet. Primary source mehn. https://t.co/M14YjJEern
