Filipinos wear pink in support of VP Leni as she announces presidency bid

Vice President Leni Robredo officially announced today that she is running for president in the 2022 elections, ending a lengthy decision-making process and months of speculation.

Supporters of the Vice President have just the right color to mark the occasion: pink.

Social media was flooded with netizens in pink as an online movement surfaced a day ahead encouraging supporters to wear the color, in honor of Robredo’s “big announcement.”

Robredo was first nominated by 1Sambayan to be its standard-bearer, an opposition coalition group composed of a broad range of pro-democracy forces.

Celebrities, influencers, and netizens of different backgrounds wore their own outfits, just as #LetLeniLead, “LALABAN TAYO” and “Pink” trended on local Twitter after Robredo’s announcement.

As social media posts poured, there were followers who got creative in showing off their support.
