Research shows that Alaska, Hawaii and Nevada love Filipino food

If you think they’re all pizzas, burgers and steaks in the United States of A, think again. According to a recent study by the Huffington Post and Yelp, each American state has a hankering and particular liking for a certain cuisine — and the results are so varied.

The research examined the restaurant listings in Yelp, a crowd-sourced review site about local businesses. Yelp crunched numbers and calculated the percentage of total restaurants each cuisine represented in a given state. Then it compared the outcome to the cuisine’s representation in restaurants, also in percentage, nationwide. The results revealed a disproportionate level of representation in each state; and that there’s a craving for Filipino cuisine in the states of Alaska, Hawaii and Nevada.
