Oakwood Premier’s newest restaurant, Nostalgia Dining Lounge, is now open

There’s a reason things are called classics. They never go out of style and remain a favorite from generation to generation. It is for this reason Oakwood Premier set up its newest restaurant, Nostalgia Dining Lounge.
 
“Oakwood had been in existence for five years and the company wanted to bank on the memories of good food and memories. All of that is evoked in this restaurant,” says Janine Taylor, Oakwood Manila Executive Assistant Manager. “The menu has dishes from the past and that people liked, the well-loved dishes of Oakwood.”

In addition, it also has chef Jerome Cartailler’s favorites from his French family’s own recipe book. For example, the pork and veal terrine flavored with Cognac is from his grandmother.

Chicken Supreme (PHP718.91)

The Pan-seared Macadamia-crusted Salmon has been coming in and out of the menu through the years. It has been revived again due to the request of the owners and loyal customers. It is fresh Norwegian salmon flown weekly from Norway, clothed with crushed macadamia nuts and allowed to sit on a rich Chardonnay cream sauce. Like it, the Onion Gratine is something people have asked for on many occasions, whether it be in the menu or not.
 
Other signature dishes include the Salmon Chowder, Parmesan Gnocchi and Parma, Chicken Supreme, Berkshire Pork Milanese and for dessert, the Deconstructed Black Forest.
 
Like many hotel restaurants, the space is simply and minimally decorated. In the middle of the room sits an open cabinet filled with vintage items that hint on sentimentality. The music is also a throwback to days past. There are three thematic rooms that are all dressed to the nines — Old Manila, Bohemian Paris and Cosmopolitan Shanghai.
