Mouthwatering foodie adventures to try this November

New month, new foodie adventures!

And with the holiday eating marathon just a few weeks away, we better start warming up our bellies to get used to the incredible amount of food we’ll be eating for December.

Here are some ideas for your next dining escapade with family and friends.

Shakshouka Pizza
Chaplin, Century City Mall, Makati City
As if the awesomeness of their best-selling Shakshouka isn’t enough, Chaplin decided to make this Shakshouka Pizza to blow us all away.
It’s a thin-crust pizza smothered with their tangy shakshouka sauce, mozzarella cheese, and home-made pesto.
We won’t blame you if you finish the entire thing on your own, but we do encourage sharing. Wash it down with some of their signature cocktails, especially brewed by their visiting Israeli bartender.

Sloppy Juan
Black Sheep, UPRC1 Building, Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City
Chinese bun meets Pinoy flavors with Black Sheep’s Sloppy Juan, thanks to Chef Patrick Go.
Crispy mantou bun filled with tasty ground beef stew with chicken flakes. The slices of cucumbers cut through the richness of the stew and balances the flavors in each bite.
It’s definitely worth the Makati traffic.

Spicy Tuna Tartare
Café Eight, Crimson Hotel Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City
Café Eight at Crimson Hotel Filinvest City is the south’s prime venue for elegant affairs and mouthwatering buffets.
And this writer’s favorite? Their Spicy Tuna Tartare from the Japanese section.
The succulent tuna is sweet in its freshness and the spices are always on-point. Drop in some mango cubes for an added tanginess and fresh sweetness.

Lechon Carbonara and Callos Buns
Café Enye, Eastwood City, Quezon City
Café Enye’s Lechon Carbonara satisfies both pork and pasta cravings.
Al dente spaghetti tossed in lusciously creamy sauce, topped with a golden egg yolk, then served with a generous serving of crispy and flavorful home-made mojo chicharones.
Now wipe that drool off your face.

Inside this precious golden Callos Bun is a unique filling: Callos slow-cooked for hours and rendered to perfect tenderness. This is callos nothing like you’ve ever had before.

Raclette
Old Swiss Inn, Somerset Olympia, Makati Avenue, Makati City
There’s a reason why a restaurant stands the test of time, but when it’s been around since 1946, you know there’s definitely something special with it.
Creamy Raclette — melted right in front of you — poured over some pickles, assorted cold cuts, and potatoes.
Cheese makes everything better especially here at the iconic Old Swiss Inn.

Ifugao Fried Rice
XO 46 Heritage Bistro, S Maison at the Conrad Hotel, Pasay City
Restaurants with a special talent for elevating already perfect Filipino dishes have a special place in my heart.
Just when I thought the humble Filipino Sinangag (fried rice with lots of garlic) is already perfect in its simplicity, here comes XO 46 Heritage Bistro with its delectable Ifugao Fried Rice.
Using brown rice all the way from Mountain Province and mixing it with fresh vegetables, XO 46 Heritage Bistro delivers a new way to experience a Filipino breakfast staple — making it perfect any time of the day.

Their Sugpo sa Aligue (prawns in crab fat) is another notable dish from Sandee and Andrew Masigan’s masterpiece of a restaurant. This dish is creamy and indulgent, while the prawn itself is still sweet and almost light in its freshness.

Baby Back Ribs
Gringo, OPL Building, C. Palanca corner Dela Rosa, Legaspi Village, Makati City
Dining at Gringo is like having a meal with your foodie uncle who loves to drink and cheesy 90’s music with an occasional current beat to make sure he stays cool.
I firmly believe the highlight of every dining experience at Gringo is their fall-off-the-bone Baby Back Ribs.
You can also choose from over a dozen different sides, but why not go for their classic Mexican Rice and revolutionary low-carb option of Camote Mash?

Another must-try at Gringo is their Porky Pork Tacos with sinfully indulgent crispy pork rind and some pomelo pulp (yes, pomelo!) for that burst of tangy surprise in every bite.

Now go forth and enjoy your foodie adventure!
