A World War 2 bomb was discovered in a drain near Semenyih Sentral yesterday, and was successfully removed using a back hoe.
According to the New Straits Times, a contractor discovered the inactive explosive while cleaning the drain around 1.30pm.
“The contractor, however, decided to remove the bomb using a back hoe. He then informed the police of the discovery and a team of policemen were dispatched to the scene,” Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Othman Nayan was quoted as saying.
He added that the bomb was placed inside a special bag and transferred out in a police patrol vehicle at 3pm.
“The item was detonated by the bomb squad unit at a Kajang Rock quarry shortly afterwards,” he said.
The relic, he said, posed no threat to the public.
