Tony Fernandes wedding photo causes social media waves despite calls to keep event private

Malaysia’s most well-known businessman, Tony Fernandes, is a quite the lover of social media, and the Air Asia boss is certainly not shy of the odd PR push for his latest endeavors.

However, for his wedding over the weekend to his Korean girlfriend Chloe, guests were specifically asked not to share any photo from the ceremony, and reminded to do so at various times during the event.

Even the invitations themselves kept information to a minimum – the names were only printed as “Tony and Chloe.”

But predictably, some guests could not resist, and by the morning after, some guests’ photos had found their way onto social media, where they spread like wildfire.

By noon, every family WhatsApp chat had a share of the smiling couple, set against the backdrop of beautiful waters of the Cote d’Azure, in southern France.

Guests were family of the bride and groom, close friends, and a slew of AirAsia’s top officials. CIMB Group chairman, and brother of the prime minister, Seri Nazir Razak was the best man.

According to The Star, other guests included AirAsia chairman and Tune Group chief executive Kamarudin Meranun, former international trade and industry minister Rafidah Aziz and former deputy prime minister Tun Musa Hitam.

Little is known of the bride, other than she is said to be Korean, and an actress. Her age is generating something of a debate, with different news outlets dating her to be in her 20s to early 30s.

Chloe wore an off-the-shoulder white gown, with a long train, while Fernandes wore a three-piece morning suit with blue accents.
