Toddler bitten by cobra still in coma

The 21-month-old toddler who was bitten by a cobra last week while playing in the living room is still in a coma, according to The New Straits Times.

State Health and Environment Executive Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat told the daily that the bite wound on Muhammad Iskandar Syukri’s leg has healed well, but the boy is still in a critical condition.

“Today, the Sultan Ismail hospital performed a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan on Iskandar to find out whether his brain was affected by the bite. We also need to find out if the delay in getting him to the hospital had any effect on him,” Ayub was quoted as saying.

Last Wednesday, Iskandar fell unconcious after he was bitten by the snake which slithered into his family’s home in Mersing at around 9pm.
